BRIEF HISTORY OF EFFIDUASE SENIOR HIGH COMMERCIAL SCHOOL
MR. E.R Addow

(1943 - 1963)
In 1943 Mr. E.R Addow founded Modern School of Commerce in Akwamu, a suburb of Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
He started the school with his own son by name Augustine Sono Addow as the sole student until two other students were admitted to increase the student population to three (3). The school was purely commercial and the subjects taught were Typing, Shorthand and Office practice.
In 1963, the school was absorbed into public system/ assisted secondary school. After the absorption into the assisted secondary school, the following subjects were introduced, Mathematics, English Language, Science, Geography, Accounting to mention just a few. Following its inception into the assisted secondary school, it metamorphosed from Modern School of Commerce to Effiduase Secondary Commercial School.
Mr. E.R Addow then handed the school over to Mr. Duku Kakyire in 1973. The school was moved to its present site, which was given by Akrobeto and Kyidom families and was endorsed by the Effiduase Tradition Council.

Academic Performance
Students have been performing well in the West African Examination School Certificate Exam (WASSCE). The 2021 results stands out as the best result since I took over. For the first time in a couple of years, we qualified for the National Science and Maths Quiz but unfortunately we were eliminated along the line.
Discipline
It is an undeniable fact that academic excellence thrives on discipline. So with the support of the staff, we have managed to inculcate in our students a very high sense of both academic and moral discipline. We check on teachers and students absenteeism and enforce proper adherence to the code of ethics of the school.
Sports
Mr. Opoku Nti alias Zico a former Kotoko and Black Star player was also a product of Effisco. In 2020 , Effisco was and is still the reigning champion in Badminton and Volleyball in Ashanti Region in the last held Inter School and College Sports.
Effiduase Senior High/ Commercial School for sometime now has achieved great success in sports. The school has been qualifying to the final stages in almost all the sporting disciplines that they compete in. One cannot therefore talk of sports in Ashanti Region without mentioning Effisco.
In conclusion, some old students have contributed tremendously to the growth of mother Effisco and are still adding their quota to its development. We are so grateful to all of them. I hope all the old and new alumni would join hands to make our Alma Mater great and enviable to all other schools.
